Study shows the Coastal Empire’s needs to keep up with housing crisis

A new Georgia Tech study reveals that the Coastal Empire needs approximately 41,000 additional housing units over the next five years to accommodate population growth driven by economic opportunities. Chatham County requires about 17,000 new units, while Bryan County's need will rise from 16,000 to 23,000. The study suggests re-legalizing various housing types, such as duplexes and multi-family homes, to meet these needs. Ongoing projects include the Savannah Fairgrounds, which will add 10,000 units, and a development at 916 MLK Blvd. for affordable housing.
