GA Governor Signs Amended Budget, Allocating Funds for Hurricane Relief, Tax Rebates, and More

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed an amended state budget, allocating an additional $4.4 billion, bringing total spending to nearly $75 billion. Key provisions include $862 million for Hurricane Helene relief, $1 billion for state income tax rebates, and $346 million to address issues in the prison system. Tax rebates could provide up to $500 for married couples, while the flat income tax rate will decrease to 5.19% for 2025. The budget aims to support recovery efforts and improve public safety, despite criticism regarding the tax cuts' benefits.
