Cherokee County Considers New Zoning for Spacious Living

Cherokee County is creating a new zoning district to encourage residential development on lots of at least five acres, larger than the current two-acre minimum. A consultant was hired to draft a "Rural Large Lot Residential Subdivision Ordinance" to allow low-density, large-lot subdivisions with minimal infrastructure. The draft is expected by June, with public hearings and adoption possible by August.
